While at my Dr’s office this week, I found this beautiful hardcover book: Just the Way I Am: God’s Good Design in Disability by Krista HorningKrista Horning was born with Apert Syndrome. She has undergone more than 60 surgeries to her face, bones, and joints. Through her pain and suffering, Krista has seen and knows the goodness, love, and power of God. In Just the Way I Am, she makes simple/profound statements about the sovereignty of God and uses Scripture to show where she has learned these truths. This book has made such an impact since its release last year that it sold out well ahead of what had been expected. Here’s the update on the next print run. Soon! In the meantime, you can read the book online. From Noel Piper’s blog: noelpiper.com/2011/09/13/just-the-way-i-am/ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ November 19, 2010| by Krista Horning| Topic: Identity in Christ Through photographs, Bible passages, and her own story, Krista Horning’s book tells of a wise and sovereign God who turns all things for good, including disability. Born with Apert syndrome that has required more than 60 surgeries and countless hours of therapy, Krista and her family understand the severe pain and suffering associated with disability. Yet they also experience God’s grace and are able to live with hope in God because they are anchored in God’s word. From the Foreword by Joni Eareckson Tada: With a tenderness tempered by her own physical challenges, Krista considers it her life’s calling to lovingly lead kids with disabilities beyond their questions to discover just how wise and sovereign God really is. www.desiringgod.org/resource-library/online-books/just-the-way-i-am/print?lang=en
