Our daughter developed a high fever last Tuesday evening (101-102.8). It lasted until this Saturday morning, when it finally returned to normal. During that time she had tylenol and ibuprofen, plus a doctor visit to make sure nothing else was wrong. So, fever is gone, but now she's developed a rash. Started on her tummy and has spread to her chest, shoulders and a little on her neck and behind the ears. Has anyone else seen this after a high fever? We don't know if we can send her do daycare tomorrow--we already had her home three days last week! She's not scratching at it, and it's more just red spots, not bumps or bites. Just need advice, experience, suggestions! Thanks Moms!

Fifth disease is cheeks, not on the whole body. Is she having an allergic reactions to something?

Is her fever gone? Is she eating/drinking well and have normal energy? If so, I wouldn't worry, unless she's under 3 months. If she's a young baby, still has a high fever, or isn't acting like herself I would call her doctor just to check in. Fifth disease starts on the cheeks with sometimes a lacy red rash on the arms and legs.

photos not linking, sorry.
My friends son just had a Strep Rash a few weeks ago, he needed a strong Antibiotic to knock it out. Once the Fifth's Disease rash appears, there is nothing that can be given for relief, learned that the hard way by a visit to the ER. They just told me to use a moisturizing lotion for the affected area, I bought Lubriderm and applied that to his face which was the only place affected.

Actually the same happened to both my boys. Once it was a reaction to the anibiotics they where on because of an ear infection and I was told that if the rash had reached to his throat he could have developed trouble breathing. Both my boys had fifths disease and it was a small rash that mostly appeared on their stomachs and backs and it was usually present in summer because of the heat and humidity would make it worse. If you are unsure please bring them in to be seen again....a rash can mean many things including allergy and you don't want to mess with that.
