I am curious at what age children begin to ask wh questions and what type of questions emerge first and last.

Hmm, my kids are older but when they were little they both went through a stage where every question was, "What's that?" "What's that?" "What's that?" for everything, even when they knew the answer. And then they later go through a stage where they ask, "Why?" "Why?" "Why?" every five seconds!!! Sorry I can't remember what age they were ... maybe 2 ish? We ended up answering, "What do you think it is?" and "Why do you think that is?" instead of answering - we'd turn it back to them because they were a) driving us nuts and b) liked knowing the answer, it made them feel smart. So brace yourself!!! Your patience may be worn thin!!!

my two year old has begun sentencing, "mama, what is that?" or "what's that?" or "where'd it go?"

My 15mo old only says Dada and Whz That? My 4yr started at about 3 with real questions, what does that sign mean? where is my house? when i wake up is it time for snack? the questions have become more difficult since then...why doesn't that man have hair? why can't i have a horse? why can't horses live in houses? why does my brother have a penis? My daycare lady said the difference in boy and girl questions start right before kindergarten, which is spot on for us. Too bad they don't teach that stuff for many more years.

haha uh my kids still ask me what that is or why does that happen? Not as much as when they where say 3 and 4yo but still. They are just trying to learn about everything they can and wonder why things work.
