So I just have to quickly rant and rave. I love my job. I love my line of work. I have been doing it for going on 10 years now. There has been some recent change in the employment around here. A deadbeat was fired. They hired a new person in his place. During this process, many operational duties were passed on to me. Not a ton of work, but some. I was already doing most of it since the previous employee was not. However, in the meantime, I am told that there are no raises this year. Then I find out that along with my extra duties and the slap of no raises that they are paying said new person $8 an hour more than me....$6 more an hour than the previous person! What about appreciating the people that break their backs for their jobs around here? The ones that go the extra mile? The ones that can always be counted on? Yes, I know economy is tough. Yes, I am thankful that I have a job. Yes, I am thankful that it is one I enjoy. But seriously?!?!?! So frustrated....anyway...thanks for letting me rant....

I don't blame you for being frustrated! I would feel the same way. They should give you some sort of appreciation - a raise would be the best, but even a "Hey thanks for the hard work" or maybe a gift card somewhere. Business seem to have lost alot in the employee appreciation department.

WOW! That SUCKS! Have you spoken to HR about it at all? They won't know that there is an issue unless YOU bring it up...

That does stink! I found out a new leader was being paid 50.00 per week less than me. 11 years service for me, 6 months for her. My sales, 15,000+, hers, $3000. It sure does make you feel unappreciated and more. Hopefully your company will make it right.

We are a very small company. Six people to be exact. So I do the majority of HR paperwork along with hundreds of other duties, so that's how I found out. Thanks for the support ladies. I do plan on discussing it with the president but I'm just not sure how yet.

It is definitely hard when you work for a small company. I used to work as a receptionist at a small office. I found out that a girl that was hired 6 months before me was making $3 more an hour. Same age, experience, etc. She just asked for a much higher rate when she had her interview. Very frustrating :/
