Those of you that have multiple kiddos....did you follow the same timeline strategy for things like making the switch to toddler beds, potty training etc. I moved DS 1 into a toddler bed at 18 months and he did well with it. DS2 is 15 months and we are trying to decide to do 18 months or wait longer. DS1 is still trying to potty train and we are wondering if we should be getting our 15 month old interested in hopes to not have him wait so long like DS1??

For some things we were the same, others we weren't, depending on what it was and the kid involved. For example, for both kids, we weaned them around 15 months because that just seemed to work well for all of us and for both kids (and I was feeling like I was done nursing at that point and ready to have my body fully back!! Hah!) We started DD1 potty training when she was just over two and it did not go well (I think we started too young) so we waited a bit longer with DD2 -- she was 2 1/2 and it went faster and easier. DD1 moved out of the crib a bit earlier than we would have moved her so we could make room for DD2, who was in her crib a bit longer since there wasn't a new baby who needed it!! Stuff like that ... I think that you can trust that you know your kids and their personalities, and what works best for the family as a whole. And sometimes there are outside factors/ traveling or moving or other life changes that might affect timing with your kids.

Varied per kid, per situation. DS1 moved to a race-car bed with sides when he was 2 1/2 but his sibling(s) was on the way. The twins stayed in their cribs until they were almost 3. They liked them. The climbed in and out safely on their own. Then they went to toddler beds to conserve room and then bunkbeds.
I tried potty-training ds1 when he was 2 1/2 and I was totally frustrated.....as was he. I waited with the twins for them to be "ready". That never happened so I forced the issue when they were 39 months. They "could" do it, they just didn't want to.

I ended up keeping a varied but similar schedule for them. For the most part I followed their leads but I did keep the timeline similar. DD1 was out of the crib by age 2, before DD2 came. DD2 was in the toddler bed by 18 months. DD3 never really was in the crib- she went from pack n play to toddler bed to twin bed before she was 2. They were all potty trained by age 2.
