Since I don't have DD's I'll speak from my own experience.... I had to wait until I was 10 to get my first holes done, 13 for the doubles, and I didn't get them tripled until I was 18. You do have to make sure you clean and rotate them daily for the first few months.

I did my DDs when they were between 7-8 months. Best decision for me and them. No infections and easy for me to remember to clean and turn them at diaper changes.DH didn't have a say. DD3 will have hers done in the next month. If you have them in sports make sure you do them in the off season! So many sports these days don't allow jewelry.

I had DD's done at Claire's for her 10th birthday-- I wanted to be sure she could be responsible enough to take care of them-- she has ADD so needed reminders and did forget some, but had no issues at all.

We got DD1's ears done at 18 months. DH decided that he wanted to while she was still young. We just went to Claire's. We will probably do DD2's ears around the same age. No doubles till they are teenagers.
