I saw a new place at MOA that does piercings...professional piercing not like the places that have the guns. almostfamouspiercing.com/I'm thinking about checking it out Sunday for myself. I want to get a new piercing myself!

A professional tattoo/piercing place is probably the safest, cleanest choice. They actually make a hole for the earring, not just tear through the ear leaving scar tissue build up. Some dr offices will pierce a child's ears. All of the females in my family- daughters, sister, mom, grandma, aunts, cousins, and myself- have had our ears pierced over the years at various Claires stores with no issues, however.

When you're doing it through your ear you don't have to worry a whole lot about tissue. it's just when you're going through skin and tissue thats thicker. honestly, claires or someplace like that is just fine. sterile, and gets the job done. probably save yourself a few bucks too

DD1 had her's done at Claire's but DD2 had her's done at Walmart. Both were good experiences. Just make sure they have 2 people there to do them both at the same time!

We also did Claire's. I did call to make sure there were 2 people to do DD's. I'm glad I did. I had mine repierced 10 years ago and after the 1st one, I had to be really brave to let them do the 2nd. It hurt like heck!

My boys got their ear pierced back in September. We just went to Walmart. I purchased the earings and they did the piercings for free.

P.S. My boys had a sensitive reaction to their earings. I suggest getting something that is gold plated at least to minimize this problem.

I think the gun hurts worse than a needle and I would feel more comfortable with a professional who has gone through lots of training not someone at Claires but thats my opinion.

We got dds done at claires when she was 3 months. We haven't had any problems at all. And they did one ear at a time and she was still fine. She only cried because I had to hold her head still and as soon as I let go she was all smiles

I got all my ear lobe piercings done at Claires (there are 3 on each side) -- cartilage, nose, belly button, and tragus were all done at Captive Elements in Blaine. They do great work and are reasonably priced. And I've never had any issues with infections or anything from any of my piercings.

I took my girls to piercing pagoda. Just make sure there are 2 people when doing it, so they only feel one prick.

May I ask what age most of your kids want to get their ears pierced? My DD is 7 and would like to get hers done ... I just remember (back in the Stone Age when I had it done) that you had to turn them every so often, put cleaner/solution on your ears etc. and I'm not sure if she's old enough for the responsibility. Not to mention that she's a total wimp which at age 7 I'm sure I was as well!!! But she freaks out when she gets her flu shot, so I'm sure it would not be pretty. When she's ready, though, I like the idea of having two people do it at once. Good idea!

DH decided that our girls have to be at least age 3 to get their ears pierced. Both of my older girls have theirs pierced- one day when we were out they decided they were ready. Each girl was probably about three and a half. DD3 is SOOOO anxious to get hers pierced- turning three is a long wait for her. Lol! When my girls had their ears pierced they were told that they had to have them cleaned every day and they were good at reminding me to do it. DD2 started being able to change her own earrings sooner than DD1 was. DD1 will be 7 in July and she has been begging for a second hole for a few months now. We keep telling her no but we'll see if she can wear DH down by Sept when DD3 turns 3!
