Wow Merr I just noticed all your posts on mental illness! This is really great! I am really hoping I can start doing the walk again next year. It is important to let people know how mental illness affects people. I have a lot of it in my life. Dan's older sister is special needs, my mom and brother are scitzophrenic, I have cronic depression, and there is to much alcohol and drug abuse in my family.
It means a lot right now to because my younger brother was wanting to hurt himself but he did ask for help and was taken to the hospital right before Thanksgiving. I think he was suppose to get out yesterday. He was still hearing voices but didn't trust his Dr to tell him. After being hospitalized they have increased his meds which hopefully will help. He has high anxiety but they won't put him on anything because of his substance history. He is extremly depressed by the scitzophrenia makes it hard to put him on anything. My phsyciatrist even has to be careful of what antidepressants he puts me on because should I be caring any of the disease it could make things worse for me.
Thank you for always remembering to remind us about mental illness. Love you girl!

With mental illness effecting 1 in 4 adults in the US it is something that needs more attention in the main stream world. I'm happy to help get the word out Perhaps for 2012 we can get a MOMs team together for the NAMI walk!
