Hi everybody...I work with a mom who has twins and is in need of two booster seats...her daughters are 25lbs each. she needs the 5-point harness type. Anyone have two they aren't using any more and would like to get rid of for free or a very low cost??? let me know and i can let her know.

This stuff changest so fast - it doesn't sound like it's boosters she needs. How old are they? If they are under 2, the recommendation would be rear-facing. (Boosters usually mean the seats you use a seat belt with and not a harness, and are for much older kids) So it sounds like she is probably looking for combo seats, that can be rear or front facing, but use a 5 point harness.
This site:https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/ots/child-passenger-safety/Pages/faq.aspx has both a link to free car seats for low income families, and car seat checks. The techs who do checks can often help connect families with free or very low cost seats.

I agree with Sharon, she most likely needs a convertible carseat. My DS is 30 pounds and 37" and still in his. I don't want to move him up to a booster until its absolutely neccessary.

If I had extra booster seats I would give them to you, but I do not, sorry.

I'm in the same boat as the other ladies, DS is in a 5 pt convertible carseat still at 4 and 35lbs, he won't be getting out of it until he moves to a booster at 40lbs

My 7 year old is just around 40lbs and is still in a 5pt harness. I'm not in a rush to move her to a "regular" booster yet, either. However, the seat she uses IS called a booster and not a convertible I think. It has the harness but it is removable and the chair can be used as a high-back booster with a shoulder belt.

Pretty much agree with Sharon. Kids are probably only appropriate for boosters age wise, but not by real guidelines which are based on weight and height more than age. My 3 kids are probably going to be in car seats until they are adults as they are short, short, short. I am not kidding. We just moved our oldest, who turned seven a few days ago, out of a convertable with 5 point harness to a booster with back and sides that can be removed. She certainly was old enough to plain booser, but didn't meet the other requirements such as height and weight to be in plain booster. She also could not be trusted to quit dinking with the seatbelt on a regular booster and leave it where it should be until early this Spring. She still even fits the guilelines (barely) to use the 5 point harness convertible booster. I really think that you should predict for the worst happening, use the car seats that allow for that. You might do everything perfectly when you drive, but you can't predict for weather black ice spots or others stupid driving decisions. Maybe paranoid on my part, but so what. If I crash, I want them protected as possible. We even drive in car with our dog in a special dog seat belt so he doesn't make mad jump to front seat and cause us to start driving stupidly and affect other people.

I'm not exactly sure what she is looking for but I have this car seat in purple that we no longer use. Keep in mind it is HUGE. It's very comfy for the child but barely fit in my back seat. Attachments:

katie- I know! I have Dodge Avenger with a pretty big backseat and it was a tight squeeze. I ended up putting it on the passnger side and pulling the front seat all the way up so DS could have some leg room lol
