Any tips on finding good deals on appliances? I was just venting in our Daily Chat about how our dishwasher died this weekend. It's just the handle that broke, but without the handle snapping/connecting, the dishwasher won't run. But the dishwasher is going to die soon anyway, it's old and it's JUNK at actually getting the dishes clean (I end up hand washing at least 3-4 items after they go through the dishwasher anyway because they're still gunky). I would hate to spend money on a plumber to get a junky old non-functioning dishwasher fixed if it's just going to go kaput in a couple of months anyway, know what I mean? I think we should just buy a new one. But I hate to spend a lot of money. SO -- long story long, but if you have any great ideas let me know!! Thanks so much!

Appliance smart maybe? Don't know how prices compare but if you buy one from best buy using their credit card... purchases over a certain amount.. if paid off in "such n such " yrs, are interest free... Black Friday deals may be worth waiting for too!! I need a new one also.. blah.

Sears appliances are usually reasonable.

Well, we got our new dishwasher at sears, after the handle broke too! But it's funny you posted this because our oven went out on us, (for the 2nd time in 4 years, and the SAME problem!! 300 to fix, 429 for new!!) and we need a new fridge. when it rains it pours right?

Thanks, Ladies!! I appreciate it.
Quirky, yes isn't that the case? Our water softener died a few weeks ago, now it's the dishwasher. What will the third appliance be? (Please not the furnace, please not the furnace ...)
sigh ...

If you are near a metro area, craigslist can be a good source. It's amazing to me how many people are ripping out perfectly good appliances because they want to "re-do" their kitchen.

I've heard good things about Appliance Smart but haven't actually bought anything there. I've done Warner Stellian, worst service in my life once something needs repair under warranty through them. Others swear by them, but not my experience. Have bought nearly everything in current house at Sears (Mostly Sears Kemore Lines versus other brands they carry). Love them. Love them. Love them. But my neighbor, on the other hand has had the same experience with Sears that we had with Warner Stellian when something needed repair and it was through warranty or an extended warranty they bought. I try to buy my Sears Appliance replacements when there is a a no interest for so many months sale, then divide the cost of the appliance by one or two months less than the period that I have to get it paid off. Then I'm not putting a huge chunk of change down at any time in case I have to buy something that does take that chunk with no ability to spread out payments (like our humongous plumbing repair that is coming in the next week or two that is going to invollve digging out the a portion of the front yard and repairing a sewer line). O course you can't always do that if it breaks when there isn't a sale like that. But one time, I had that problem (water heater) asked Sears if they could do that even though there wasn't a sale like that, and they called somebody at their Sears card place, and said, yeah sure can do that for 12 months; Was easy to pay that off in less than 12 months. So I think they might be kinda flexible with that if you have their Sears Card. Best Buy often has the no interest for some many months sale a lot too. I have gotten appliances there when was single with only my income and didn't have a whole lot of money. They were fine too. Usually a least one of these --Menards, Sears, Home Depot, Best Buy, or Lowe's -- is having a no interest for so many months on appliances at any given time. But I do agree with Bunsy; I've seen on craigslist whole lists of appliances, as someone was ripping out newer white ones just because they wanted Stainless. Just changing because they want a different color versus not working order, so not where I am financially, but some people are.
