This is kind of silly question, but we have been looking at a new washer and dryer--front loading ones and are having a hard time deciding whether we should get the pedestals to go along with them or not. The main reason I'm having a hard time is our laundry room is kind of like a big hallway, it's long but a little more narrow. I have room to put a drying rack across from the dryer and can still move around a bit. Anyways, right now we have very old front loaders under a counter top (they were there when we moved in). So I have the width of the machines plus more of wonderful folding space and storage. A looong counter area to throw stuff, fold, etc. We do have cabinets above as well. But, if we get the pedestals then I lose my wonderful folding space! Without the pedestals we have to continue to bend down to put things in/take them out of the machines. Which is worse....no folding space, or bending down all the time?? What would you do? Anyone have front loaders with/without the pedestals and wish they would have went the other way? What works for you?

I definetely wish I had opted for the pedestals .... would've been a back saver. That said, I don't know, being used to the lower height, if id give up my folding space.

That is a tricky one. I would want the pedestals BUT if you will lose your folding space, then that would be a game changer.

Personally, I don't mind bending down to get clothes in and out of my front loading washer and dryer. Unfortunately there are windows in our laundry room so I don't have space for nice folding shelves, which I am now wishing I had!! I do the old "sit on the floor in front of the TV" to fold clothes, but I'd much rather have your setup!

We needed new appliances when we moved in, we did not get the pedestals. My laundry room is also my utility room, it is the one corner of not finished in the house. I just use a laundry basket to move clothes between, it saves the back.

Given those choices I'd keep the folding space and not worry about pedestals BUT if you opt for the petestals it may be more cost effective to make them/have them made for you.

I have never had pedestals. We have a small space between our washer and dryer and bought a thing that had 3 wire baskets from Container Store for extra storage.
