What's your favorite "Murphy's Law" of parenting?

Mine is:
As soon as you leave a store, building, or other location with a convenient toilet that flushes, your small child will need to go potty.

On a related note: When you are as far away as possible from a bathroom (i.e. on a long walk, on a boat far from shore) your small child will suddenly need to use the bathroom, even though they adamantly refused to go when you were near the available facilities.

When you ask your child to say please or thank you and use their best manners in front of a person of authority, they will suddenly clam up and forget how to speak or go wild and act like you gave them sugar and Red Bull for breakfast.

When you agree to give them "one more chance" because they promise to do the task, they will break that promise.

When you finally figure out this stage they are in - they are on to the next stage.

If you might need it and have no time to spare to get it or start to use it, your kids probably got into it and spread it all over the place or hid it while you were in the bathroom (my measuring spoons and measuring cups this AM when I needed to get my crock pot recipe together before heading out-the-door for all day kids doctor appointments.
Then if you ask if they know where whatever it is, they look at you blankly like "I don't know what you're talking about mommy?" and give you a big giant smile.

I never found the spoons by the way.
The other one -- whenever you can sleep in for a little extra time, the kids get up even earlier than usual.
I have extreme "morning boys" who never sleep past 6:30 AM (even if they go to bed late). Today was a 5:30 AM morning for them after a normal bedtime the previous night.

The other one that applies for my twins -- I'm going to act the worst possible way I can and egg-on my twin brother into a high-pitched screaming angry crazy kid -- only when my mom's in-laws are staying at the house and only when mother-in-law is sleeping.

Even though you only gave birth to two boys you will find another child. "It wasn't me" tends to show up alot.

Your child will play quietly by himself for over an hour and not talk to you once, but as soon as you make or take a phone call they will urgently need your attention.

As soon as you have HAD IT UP TO HERE with them, they go and do something wonderful and sweet that make you remember why you actually love being a mom.
