Lately, DD2 has been throwing up after eating cheesy foods. She threw up this morning after her milk. I know teething can cause this, but it has kinda been following a pattern. It started with dd2 not wanting to drink milk. Since it is the weekend I can't call her Dr. I found her with dried vomit in her crib after having mac n cheese for dinner.
Any advice? She is 15mo. I know she still needs milk at her age, and this isn't the first time she has grown up shortly after eating a cheesy dinner.

What I have learned is that it is an allergy if they have an instant reaction. If my child has dairy even if someone touches him who has some sort of dairy on theire hands he gets instant hives. Maybe a lactose issue?

I would try to eliminate dairy items from her diet and see if that helps. When I was younger I would always get an upset stomach after eating too much dairy. It wasn't really a serious allergy, just something that didn't agree with my body.
You could try lactose free milk and see if that helps as well. Good luck!

DD 1 has a dairy allergy -- she gets hives and has thrown up a couple of times. I would try some dairy substitutes for a little bit and see if that helps. Almond milk is a good option--or there's soy or rice milk that you could try, and then wait and see if there's a change. Smart Balance Light is a dairy-free "fake butter" -- or Earth Balance also makes non-dairy "butter." They make some fake cheeses but you have to be careful and read all of the labels--some of them are "rice cheese" but actually contain dairy in a whey ingredient so they're not dairy free. Lactose free does not mean dairy free either. So if you really want dairy free I'd look for the words "vegan" and "dairy free." A lot of breads contain milk, so that's another factor I'd be aware of.

I contacted her Dr, and he wants her off dairy for at least 2 weeks. I got some soy milk, but she doesn't like it all that well, vanilla flavor even. Her favorite snack is fig newtons, but they have dairy in them. Any advice on where to get good snacks, and what some good snacks are for being dairy free? I am headed to target this afternoon, and maybe can make it to trader Joe's or whole foods later.

Lorna Doone cookies Oreos Pretzles Puff Corn Silk Soy Yogurt Oatmeal Strawberry poptarts you can find some pancake mix from the store that is dairy free and you only need to add water
When my kids were 1 they ate oatmeal every day for breakfast, and we just modified their food for other meals, spaghetti was a favorite, make sure you look at ingredients on all foods they can have some chicken nuggets but not others, they also ate soup and I added crackers in to soak up the liquid. On that though check crackers also, those ritz/pretzel flip crackers have dairy in them.

Still today my 7 yr old doesn't eat much on the snacky foods, you really have to check all packaged foods to make it easy our snack is saltines, ritz and graham crackers. If you want a desert my 7 yr old loves graham crackers with frosting but no betty crocker or duncan heinz, we have found Pilsbury normal vanilla and some of the store brands are dairy free. For bread Cub foods brand bread is dairy free, no to target and walmart store brands and if you can't just get Cubs check the labels again. I have found another loaf that is dairy free but I do not know the name of it.

Our bread is dairy free, thankfully. She eats toast with butter and fruit for breakfast. I will be getting fake butter at target for that. I don't normally buy too much junk food for the kids.
Thank you for the ideas.

I guess I do not shop at Target to know what they have for grocery stuff. The L&Ds are not real cookies, well I have never had them but they look like shortbread kind of.

I found some fake butter, and some peanut butter crackers without dairy. I had some red bean jam at home with whole wheat ritz too. DH wants me to Look into Japanese cooking again, none of that has dairy. In fact, most asian food has no dairy.

My DD who's allergic likes graham crackers, Triscuits, Wheat Thins, Oreos, ice/soy frozen dessert (fake ice cream), Joe Joe's cookies from Trader Joe's. If you live near a Lakewinds Coop (one in Minnetonka, one in Chanhassen) their stores have a color coded system. If there's a blue dot, it's dairy free, red dot, gluten free etc. I don't know if Whole Foods does that or not, but I really appreciate that at Lakewinds.
