I have a good friend that I've known for years. We've stayed in touch via FB etc. She is a very nice gal.
Today, she announced on her FB page that her and her husband are divorcing after 8 years of marriage and 2 kids becasue she is "coming out". (in her words). She said it is mutual and she has found a nice lady to be with.
I just commend her for her courage to do this! I hope that she accepted with open arms, and people don't turn on her because of this. I've seen that happen, and it is sad moment when that happens.
I am very supportive of her in this decision!
I'm a little shocked but not really, if you know what I mean?? Have you have ever had someone do this??

Well good for her!
My male cousin we always thought he was gay, he was 6 years older than me and I remember thinking that when I was around 10 years old. He dated a gal in high school, they even married, but divorced 2 years later and then came out and is living with his partner now. I am sure he was just afraid to tell his folks, which we were raised in the South which it is a little less accepted in the Southern states. All is good now.

Wow! That can be very surprising! A friend of ours came out recently too, after 20ish years of marriage to a man! I'm so happy for her, knowing she has been unhappy for a very long time.
I wonder if this will happen less with the next generation, since I think the pressure to marry someone of the opposite sex and stay in the closet has lessened.
Is your friend local? There's a great local GLBT parents organization.
