So I know this might seem weird but my almost 18 mont old daughter has picked up on just calling me mom instead of mommy or mama...
I want to ask when did others children start calling them mom? She will call my dh daddy, but I can't even get her to say mommy! I know this is stupid but I always wanted to be called mommy. Mom sounds so much older than she is!

DS is 3 1/2 and calls me any of the following: mom, mommy or mama. He started with mama about 6 months ago and it kind of depends on what mood he is in.

It has changed over time with my son too. When he was 1, he was calling me "mom" or "mom-mom" and my wife "mama." But that didn't last long and soon we were both "mama." Now it's "mom," "mommy" or "mama" for both us depending on the moment. I wouldn't sweat it - it will likely change. You could have your SO refer to you as "mommy" when talking about you to your son. That might help steer it that way.

Both my kids started out as mama but closer to turning 2 it changed to mom for both of them. I've never been called mommy.

DS is 8 and has just started calling me mom. DD is 2 and has been calling me mommy from the start, but often will call me by my first name because she hears the daycare kids call me that.

DD1 called me mom at around 18 months, too! With my girls it changes constantly, what they call me. Sometimes it's Mom, Mama, and Mommy all in the same sentence!

I think it will probably change.. DS has gone through stages of calling me mom, mama, mommy. Right now he pretty much calls me mom (he is 4.5) but if he is sad or hurt he will call me mommy.

My DD who is almost 22 months has always called me mom or mama, and DH dad or dada. She has only called me mommy a few times. I'm sure as your DD gets older she will say mommy more, especially the more she hears it from you and others.

I was so sad when DD stopped calling me mama! :-( I'm with Sharon, have SO call you mommy, it helps. I'm mommy right now, which is pretty good, except when she is mad, then it MOOOOOOM!

I do not think DS has ever called me mom. He just started calling me mommy- it was always mama. He usually calls me MIMI- I think he hears DH say Amy. I love when he calls me Mimi. He says it with a tone like he is teasing me. Cute!

I had a GF who always called her Mom, MA! Well, I tried that and that lasted less than a day and my own Mom put the kabosh on that! She's always been Mom. I've been Mom to DS#1 and DS#2 will still call me Mommy and he's 19! DD calls me Mom or Momma. BD always ALWAYS calls me Momma.

21 YEAR old DS has reverted to Mommy. Sounds very weird coming from a 6 ft tall man!

Langston has always called me, "Mom." I don't know why. I think that is what he heard daycare call me. He also used to call the daycare lady's husband, "Dad." That's what the other kids called him....they were all his children.
I call my mother, "Mommy" or by her first name. She hates when I call her by her first name. I still whine when I call my Daddy, "Daddy." My older sister does it too.
