If you could change one law, statewide or nationwide... what would it be and why?

Not to open a can of worms, but … I would change federal law concerning guns and ammo. I would create a law that restricts ammunition for firearms (so each gun owner could only have so much ammo at a time, then they'd have to document/prove when they used it at a firing range, out hunting etc.) and also ban assault rifles and many high-powered firearms. I'm fine with firearms that allow hunters to hunt and smaller handguns for people who want personal protection, but I would have limits on how many guns people can own and how much ammo they can have at one time.

Reasonable gun laws nation wide. We have our militia - we've been waiting too long for it to be well regulated.

I agree on the gun laws.
I also want same sex marriage to be made legal in all 50 states.

Thanks Debbie. Obviously that's important to me as well We are getting closer and closer, though, yet sane gun laws feel so out of reach.

True Sharon. It does feel good to have positive momentum in the area of equality for marriage. (BTW I am coordinating an event in Dec. that Richard Carlbom is being honored at as one of 10 outstanding young Minnesotans for his work with Minnesotans United and Freedom to Marry.) But the gun laws....they are tough because no one seems willing to hear that gun legislation does not mean not allowing people to have any guns. Everyone seems to think those who support some restrictions on type of weapons, amount of ammunition etc. want to take all guns away.

I may be opening a can of worms too, but I don't think the driving age should be as low as it is... I think 17 to get a permit and license with a year probation... if someone is working or in school, then they have to prove that in order to drive alone or past a curfew hour. Its a fact that at 15, 16 and even 17 or 18 the teenagers brain is not developed enough to make life altering decisions or use common sense.
I also think helmets for motorcyclists should be a nationwide law...
