Hi all - we'll be taking a Disney Cruise next year (yes I know, I'm a planner and thinking about all of this way ahead of time:P)
Does anyone know of we will need passports? We'll be driving to Miami since my grandparents live in Florida and want to visit them for a few days before we depart. We'll be going to Grand Cayman & Castaway Cay. I looked through the terms & conditions but it just says "proper identification is required for all guests" but doesn't say what kind of proper identification that is! DS will be 7.
Also, if anyone has tips for us I'd appreciate them! We'll be driving straight through to Florida so long ride with a 7 year old, as well as any helpful tips for while we're on the cruise.
TIA!

From wdwforgrownups.com: "For U.S. citizens a passport is not required for travel on closed loop cruises (those that depart from and return to U.S. ports). Exact identification requirements for all travelers sailing onboard the DCL can be found at the Passport & Documentation Page on the Disney Cruise Line website. However, if any sort of emergency were to occur while overseas, you would not be allowed to fly home without one. That is true whether the unlikely event is one where the ship is at fault, or a personal or medical emergency. All air travel into the U.S. from foreign countries requires a valid book-style passport. Therefore, both the Disney Cruise Line and I highly recommend that guests of all ages traveling onboard DCL have a valid passport to offer an extra level of security while visiting overseas."

Thanks Bunsy! That's helpful.. and I'm thinking I'll probably have them get passports anyway. Definitely wouldn't want to be stranded if something were to happen.
