Other than family, do you have a person, or people you have a huge amount of respect for?
I have a couple....
The priest (now a Bishop) who taught the RCIA classes when I converted to Catholicism. This man is one of those people who are impossible not to respect...he is just a wonderful person. This subject came to my mind because I had emailed him yesterday with a question, and even though he is so busy, he took the time to send me a really nice, and helpful, response. (I am trying to figure out what high school to send DS1 to)
I also have a ton of respect for my former boss. Even though I was the nanny, he treated me very well. He didn't treat me like I wasn't good enough because I wasn't in his social class. (which happened A LOT being around very wealthy people often during my 13 years working for this family) He respected me for what I did with his children, and treated me like family!

I am fortunate to have so many people in my life that I love and respect who aren't my family.
I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are kind, considerate and always thinking of others. They are smart, funny and always make me feel good when I am around them.
I have two people from work. One who no longer works with me, but she is just a wonderful person and was my first supervisor who I really trusted. The other is our company's policy specialist and she is a wonderful mentor, very down to earth, hard worker, intelligent and I have a ton of respect for her.

I admire and have so much respect for my mom. She has been through a lot in her life and she is an amazing mother. She has always been there for me and has taught me many important life lessons. From early on she taught me so many things about responsibilty, managing money, credit, work ethic, etc.
Thanks to her I have managed to help my hubby restore his credit (he had horrible credit when we met) and have kept my credit very high.
Besides financial wisdom she also gives me advice about DS, my hubby, my job, my school, etc. but she isn't pushy or overly opinionated. She only gives me advice when I ask for it.
She is also so helpful and caring of others and always has been. When I was in HS one of my friends moms was bi-polar and had various other mental illnesses. She kicked my friend out when she was 16 and my mom allowed her to live with us and treated her just like her own daughter. She is always putting others before herself (sometimes to a fault) and she would do anything to help anyone.
She is such an amazing person and I hope to be like her when I am older.
