So I finally got the go ahead to get a new vacuum, I am looking at getting a Dyson but I am wondering what opinions people have on Dysons or is there a vacuum you like better. If you do have a dyson which one do you have
We have hardwoods mainly upstairs and carpet downstairs and in bedrooms.

We don't have a dyson but just watching the commercials made me not want one. For those of you that have one, does the dust and dirt loosely flop out in to the trash when you empty the canister? That's what it looks like on tv. The commercial also said "so you'll have to empty more often, sorry" I guess meaning it sucks up more. The one we have does not have to be emptied as often at all, but I do anyways just to see when there's not anymore being sucked up (that's my goal).
We have a kompressor plus LuV300B and love it. The dust and dirt gets compressed in to a ball so you don't have to empty as often and when you do there isn't anything floating up from the trash when it hits bottom. It is an upright bag less and the canister is clear with a tool that sweeps back and forth while vacuuming to compress. It's hard to explain but super cool.

We have a Dyson Pet vacuum got it last year and I love it! I can't remember the model number. I have 2 dogs and 3 kids and it sucks up the dogs hair really well!

I guess emptying it as often doesn't bother me...I empty it after every time I vacuum anyway (even with my old vacuum that could hold more). I usually put the canister lower into the trash can and close the lid a little then empty, I don't have problems with dust flying up in my face or out of the trash can.

I musta got a lemon of a dyson. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it for doing the stairs and I'm OK on my carpets but I HATE HATE HATE it on bare floors. It just blows the dirt around. Seriously why am I the only one that has never loved my dyson? It almost makes me wanna call them and see if they would replace it but we have had it for maybe 6 years now....

Mickey - I am disappointed in my Dyson, too. And for the same reasons with the hard floors. It is ok on carpet but I really liked that it could do both, which it unfortunately does not!

I have a shark. It's inexpensive and works great with our two Huskies! Even on bare floors which is why we did not get a dyson. We are beyond happy with ours and paid just a little over 100 with coupons!
