Mine And DH's Christmas present from the in laws is a brand new HE washer and dryer and we pay for half of it. Well FIL went and bought the set yesterday and delivered it. We are just waiting for him to build us some platforms for them and then we can use them!
Are there any special tips or tricks I need to know use these? What is your favorite HE laundry detergent? We are allergic to tide so will need a different brand. I'm so excited to use my new washer and dryer!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HE WASHER & DRYER!!!!!!!!!!! What brand did you get?
I like the one commercial grade Front Loading or HE Washer we have in our coop housing association laundry room!!!! Lots of differences between HE and top loading washers.
Thee MOST IMPORTANT thing I did was read the instruction manual that came with the washer, as it is so much different than a top loading machine.
For ours, the cover over the detergent/bleach/fabric softner opening is very delicate at the hinges, the plastic holding the pins in place, broke, and it's really expensive to replace, as you have to replace the whole cover.
Takes alot less water, per cycle, than a top loading washer and it spins the clothes out drier, so less dryer time needed.
I have found, I can’t add extra water, when rinsing off soap from measuring cup into soap dispenser spot, apparently it over-fills internally somewhere, and it wrecked some part. (been there, done that).
On our washer, once you choose a cycle, such as perm press, you can’t change it part of way thru its cycle, to a different cycle such as whites, or gentle, etc.
Ours uses alot less detergent than the top loading machines. I only use 1/4 cup of detergent. I like "Purex, HE" detergent.
REMEMBER TO USE ANY DETERGENT WITH HE ON THE LABEL. HE = High Efficiency, different than regular detergent formulas.
Make sure to keep the washer door open between washes otherwise it will "stink" because there is always water left in the bottom, under the drum, until next time you use it (this is the way the washer is made.).
Ours starts with a "Prewash" when it starts a cycle, ie: whites, perm press, gentle, etc., so I have to remember to wait and put my detergent in after prewash is done, or it will just spin out the detergent I just put in.
In our washer, we can't use gel style of Bleach in the bleach cup as it is too thick for the water to push the gel through, and it just sits there. Just use a liquid bleach.
I've got other tips, let me look up my documents.

Awesome, thanks for the info! You're Very Welcome!!! (I just updated my post again.) I've still got an article on HE washers that I'm looking for, that explains more about the way it works with the detergent, than a top loading washer, and how they are so different from each other, mechanically. It's not just that one is loaded at top, and the other loaded in the front.
