Do your kids do anything at school for Valentine's Day? Do you put candy or a treat in the valentines they give their classmates? I need to take my kids out to buy their valentines and treats. In the past I've done the usual card/little candy thing. One year when they were younger we made home made cards too ... but that was a bit of a pain. Maybe we'll make home-made valentines for the grandparents and just do store bought for friends. Hmm ... Also -- what do your kids like getting from their friends? Any favorite treats/ little toys?

I thought we had a V- day post?! Anyhoooo DD1, 2nd grade has a party. We give out pencils from the $1 section at Target with her store bought cards. DD2, preschool has an exchange. In light of her tree nut allergy we are also giving out pencils with her store bought cards. Our cards were bought on clearance the previous years! Thanks to Pinterest I think we will be making ours from here on out! There are some great and easy homemade ideas on there.

My son has never gone to a school that celebrates Valentine's day, and I'm always a bit relieved when I see what a big deal it is as some schools. It's not a major holiday in our family. Last year he made a few Valentines to mail to friends. I plan to ask him if he wants to do the same this year.

Last year we had Valentines and then put a pencil or dum dum on it.
My child is one with food allergies so I always give something that he can have.

DS is young but we will give his teachers (4) a v-day card with a trial size bath and body lotion ribboned on it. They do not hand out cards for kids at his school so I do not worry about that. His closets friends will get a small card and treat/toy.

DD1 has a class "party" in the afternoon where they hand out Valentines to each kid in the class. I just bought DD's Valentines today- they came with suckers.

I saw a V-Day post but it seemed like it was geared toward what you do for your SO / family, not what the kids do in school. Thanks guys!

My 1st grader is having a party, he came home with the names of the classmates on a sheet of paper that he can cut and paste or tape to the valentines instead of writing all the names. His teacher asked for packaged candy or fruit snacks to pass around to classmates and I sent in some $$ as a donation because she usually buys sugar valentine cookies and has the kids decorate them with icing and sprinkles.

I was at Walmart yesterday it was really hard to find things that were V-day related for kids to give to classmates that weren't candy. I did find heart shaped erasers that look like the sweethearts candy.

I get the store bought valentines for the kids and we try to give out pencils or something cute like that, the kids could always use another pencil in class. I might give out candy this year too, depending on what I can still find the last couple of days before the holiday.

No candy on Valentine's Day? Man, what a bummer for the kids!! But I don't blame the schools, all that sugar makes the kids go crazier than they already are.
