I believe in the spiritual world and psychics. I also believe there are a lot of fakes out there but there are gems among the fakes. I really, really, really want to go see Sylvia Browne when she comes to Treasure Island in a couple weeks but DH doesn't believe in any of it and doesn't want me to spend the money on seeing her. I don't know what to do! AUGH!
[glow=red,2,300]10-17-12[/glow] I did it! I bought my ticket tonight to go see Syliva!!! I am SO excited even though I may be going by myself I can't wait! ;D
10/24/12 I shared my experience at the event on page 2

LOL at first glance I read that you believed in "physics".
In answer to your question, I would tell your DH that you really want to go and see her and you know that he doesn't believe in psychics but you do and he gets free reign to spend the same $$ on something important to him w/o question from you. Find a friend who wants to go and have a girl's night.

I love Dara's suggestion. There is nothing wrong with having an interest that you don't share IMO. If you would enjoy it more with a friend then that's what you should do.

So here's a fun twist ... My parents want to go! I sat down last night and figured out how much $$$ I've brought in with Avon in the last two months and showed DH. He asked me where all that money went and I told him that we spent it on bills. A little while later I was looking at ticket prices and seats and he saw what I was doing. He finally agreed that I can go! Because he knows I'll keep bugging him until I get my way anyway heheheheeee Super excited! But now I've looked at my bank account today and feel guilty about spending the money on the ticket until I get my Jamberry Nails money on the 10th. My perfect seat should still be there by the 10th... right?! In all fairness I have splurged a lot in the last few weeks. QVC just made me buy a Kureig coffee maker on easy pay and our bedroom TV died so I went out and bought a replacement. The replacement was over my budget because I wanted something of quality that didn't die quickly. Have I mentioned lately that I am SO thankful that we're not a single income household anymore?! Those years were ROUGH.

But those years aren't so far behind you that you don't remember them and are still very careful.
I'm so glad you can go! M DH knows how much I like that sort of thing so he tried to get me tix for my birthday. Maybe I'll mention Sylvia Brown!

The bills caught up with me today and I can't in good conscious spend the money on a ticket right now DH and I did have a a nice chat today though. He said (without any prompting from me!) that even though he doesn't believe in it and thinks it'd be a waste of money he knows there are things he does that I think are a waste of money. If the bills hadn't bit me in the butt right now I would have my ticket already. If its meant to be, the ticket will be there in a week or so when my next payday comes and our other bills are caught back up. Yes - QVC MADE me buy the Keurig I'm so glad you picked up on that forced purchase Mo! LOL With shipping and tax and mail in rebate I'm paying about $80 for the personal Keurig brewer with reusable K-Cup (to use my own coffee grounds) and a few dozen k-cups. It's about a $160 value if I'm remembering correctly! Can't WAIT for it to arrive!!!

Sylvia Brown made me believe in her while watching her on Montel a long time ago and here's why: Back in college I was a bridal consultant and a bartender. I had a bride who was out for her bachelorette party one night. After bar close that night we recieved a call from my coworker's dad who wanted to know where the coworker's brother was (he was with us.) The dad was a first responder and was on his way to an accident out in the county where a guy was killed on the road. He told us the guy's name and it was the groom of my bride, an apparent hit and run. We finished restocking the bar and went out to breakfast. Who happens to be at Perkins? My bride and her bridal party. Happy as can be with no knowledge of her dead fiance. I felt like crap about it and couldn't tell her. Well, they leave, we eventually leave and I head home. My bride, by the way, lived in the same apartment complex as me and I showed up just as she was recieving the news. Yeah, it was SUPER hard to hear her get the news. Eventually we found out the hit and run driver was one of the groomsmen for the wedding but they could never understand HOW or WHY the groom got killed. Fast forward about a year I turn on Montel before I have to go to work and it is a Sylvia Brown episode- my bride is in the audience and gets up to ask her question, it went like this: "Hi Sylvia, last summer my fiance was killed..." Sylvia cuts her off and says, "The lights were off, honey. They lights were off. He never saw the car and his friend never saw him." HOLY CRAP! Now, tell me that woman isn't connected somehow! About 6 months after the show I ran into my bride at a bar and asked her about it- thinking it was edited for the show and she said no. Sylvia never even let her get her story out, she cut her off right away and told her about the lights.

Angel.. gave me chills. I've always believed... had a family friend; who is passed now from breast cancer, who was a medium... there are some things she said that will probably stay with me always.
