Day 21: I am thankful for Mickey Erickson. He raised me, my brothers, and my sister. He is a great step-dad and a wonderful papa to my kids.

Day 21: I am thankful for our home. I often wish it was bigger and newer (and always wish it was magically cleaner), but it is ours and is full of memories of special events and everyday moments. It keeps us warm and safe.

I am thankful I got home in one piece with car in one piece and all children well but annoyed to be in car and very loud about it; We had 3 thanksgivings in 3 days with various sides of the family -- so it involved lots of driving with at least some or all of the kids to go to one or more of the 3 destinations. What should have been a 6 hour car ride back from last place was about 9 hours due to multiple accidents that turned drive back from WI to MN on HYW 29 and 94 back from WI into one lane or completely shut them down for awhile. I was irritated and kids were irritated (and screaming about being in car so long -- I wanted to also). It was dark we went off as much as we could but often couldn't because we were in the back-ups for the accidents. Last accident was very serious with cars taken off the road on flatbed and taken to service road and covered so people passing by could not see them. From my work with with multiple sheriff departments, I know that someone was very badly injured or died, or the car was not pretty to look and being preserved for a crime investigation or reconstruction of accident. Then I though, well if I can't deal with a little screaming for an hour or two more I need a serious attitude adjustment -- someone in one of those cars in one of those multiple car accidents we were behind -- is probably right now is wishing for someone to be alive enough to be screaming and yelling. Puts in perspective my long 3 days in a car with kids.

For family time for the last 5 days. Especially on thanksgiving. For my kids who I am proud of when they got cavities filled this morning and they did very well. For peace & quiet when the kids are at school. For when I volunteer. Makes me feel real good to help at the thrift store, at my kids' schools. For nice neighbors.

Dh went out after work yesterday. Fine. He had 3 drinks and 1 arnie palmer. It was almost 8:00 pm and I was worried about him driving home. He sounded like yuck when he got home. He got a cold while gone. I am glad he made it home fine. They went out b/c yesterday was his brothers last day at work, today is dh's last day at work.
