I'm think of doing that too. I just haven't decided yet.

It's only $25 and I think the support would be really helpful! If you look at pictures of past winners it's pretty amazing what they accomplished in 90 days.

Whatever helps you stay motivated and gets you to the gym is a GOOD thing!! My butt was KILLING me this morning after yesterday's class (I go to a "No Limits" class on Thursdays, it combines cardio and weights). My BFF came to my house for a run this morning so that got me out the door, otherwise I would have skipped it. It is kind of funny that every Friday I wake up wondering what muscle part is going to ache today ... but at least it's a sign that my body is getting stronger.

How's everybody doing with their health & wellness goals?
I am NOT doing well. (Sigh.) I hit a rough patch due to eating out. We usually eat out very rarely, but in the last week and a half we've had two family birthdays and other special outings and eaten at restaurants a ton, had lots of cake & ice cream, etc. So ... NOT good. I MUST get my healthy eating back on track ASAP.

Hi ladies!
My husband and I started advocare. We're doing the 24 day challenge. We're on day 9 and I'm down 6-7 pounds. Overall I'm happy about that! I haven't gotten to work out as much but it's been really clean eating!
I just got a bike and trailer so I'm going to start biking with dd in the trailer. She picked out the cutest helmet too!

I feel the SAME way. We've been out of town a ton and eating a lot of treats. NOT good for the health & wellness plan!! Hopefully this week I can get some healthy recipes going and get back on track.

I was really bad with eating this past weekend, too. BUT I've been keeping up with my 90-day challenge goal of making it to the gym at least 4 times a week!

This morning my parents wanted to go to a fundraiser that's a pancake and sausage breakfast meal -- you know the type. Well, I feel bad because I didn't want to go. Part of the reason is because eating there will "cost" me like 1000 calories! I'm really trying to be wiser about my food choices, and eating two huge pancakes and sausage is really not worth it to me--heck, for that number of calories I'd rather have cheesecake, you know? Anyway, I also didn't want to go because that would mean I'd have to shower and I still need to work out later, DD 1 can't eat there because of food allergies so she'd be bored, etc. etc. so there were other reasons it would be inconvenient to go. But let's face it, the major reason is because of stupid calories.
This got me thinking -- I don't want to miss out on events because I'm trying to eat more healthfully. I don't want my quality of life to be negatively affected. At the same time, this is the only thing I've ever chosen to NOT go to, and the event itself is just about the food, I wouldn't know anyone, there's no other social aspect other than hanging with my parents, which of course I would like to do, but I'm spending all weekend with them. SO - UGH! Part of me is glad I didn't go, because I had a smoothie for breakfast which is much healthier and a tiny fraction of the calories. Part of me is unhappy that I didn't go, because I've now spent an hour or so less with my parents and I just don't want it to be a slippery slope. What do you think?

That is hard.
In general I don't want to miss out on life/events because I am trying to eat healthy and I know that a treat once in awhile is fine but there has to be a balance. Every day can't be a special treat. I think you have to weigh the situation and determine if your presence is important to you parents or if it is fine for you to miss this, especially if it isn't your thing anyway.
For me I struggled a bit with my aunt understanding my desire to eat healthy when we were on vacation. Seriously all week she tried to push chips, desserts, dips, etc. I ate a limited amount and kept explaining that I was trying to be balanced in my eating and enjoy treats in moderation. She kept saying "You can eat what you want you are on vacation". I held firm, but it was hard.
The other thing to consider is portion sizes, maybe just having one pancake instead of a stack, etc. But you have to decide what makes the most sense to you.

I agree it is so hard to eat healthy on vacation or other places with not as healthy choices! My self-discipline at a birthday party yesterday sucked!
On the bright side, I cancelled my gym membership! I found a place that I'm really excited about. It is called Orange Theory. They have three locations, Maple Grove, Plymouth and Minneapolis. It is a one hour group work out with a trainer. You wear a Polar Monitor and it records your heart rate for the full hour. The theory is that if you can stay in the orange zone, you can increase your calorie burn for an additional 24-36 hours. You do about 1/2 hour on a treadmill with intervals, base, push and all-out. Then it is some time on a row machine and then strength training with free weights and straps.
I made the first work out ok. I felt totally wore out after 40 minutes, but I finished it! The second work out was better. I stayed in the orange more! I wasn't as sore. It is really, really expensive. ($159 a month for 16 times) I believe, however, I am going to see results more quickly than I was at my other gym. You also get an email with charts and graphs showing your heart rate, average and maximum and the zones and how long you were in them. I can't wait to really get going. (I have to run out my current membership out this month!)
