I just found this website telling us the ways our vote wouldn't count if this passes: www.ourvoteourfuture.org/why-vote-no/It says mail in ballots would be provisional, so might not be counted. That includes anyone who would be voting absentee. That means anyone serving for us overseas and risking their lives daily to protect our freedom will not get their vote counted. There would be no same-day registration. Have you ever moved, especially within two months of election day? Looks like I'm going to be registering same day this year because I might have forgotten to check that dang little box on the drivers license form. It will be raising taxes for us to implement this new set of rules. Do you want to pay more for something that won't even be making a dent in fraud, but will be costing people their votes?

I am glad to see this conversation was already started here. This is such an important issue. If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to ask me.

When I originally learned of the amendment I was so happy that we could have a voter id law! It never made sense to me why I didn't have to show my id to vote.
I started looking into it a bit more a few month ago. A few things I didn't realize 1. getting even the free id was going to be very difficult for some people. 2. The amendant doesn't really specify what id's were acceptable.
So those thoughts put me on the fence. I read an article or something in the past two weeks that stated if you didn't have a photo id, you could cast a provisional ballot. Then my next question was, ok, how does it become valid. The article answered, "Those provisions would be set in the July 2013 session." Hold the phone! They are asking us to amend the constitution without the full law written and us citizens have to "trust" the legislators to make it right. To me that is like giving them a signed blank check to do as they will! No go here.
I still believe that we need an id law, but it shouldn't be an amendment that could be very difficult to fix when unintended consequences shows its head.
So I went from a firm yes to a firm no. Too bad DH won't listen to me.
