Recently I read Bound, which is an young adult Cinderella story set in Medieval China. It's by Donna Jo Napoli, and I've read many books by her and loved them all.
Then I read The Case For Make Believe, which is non-fiction, written by a therapist about why pretend play is so crucial for child development and the barriers to it that are increasing in our society. She was preaching to the choir but it was a good read - interesting, well researched, and interesting and easy to read. I'll definitely recommend it to colleagues and parents and it would be a good one to add to our adult book collection at my school.
Now I'm reading I Am Malala. Wow.

Midwives by Chris Bohjalian - it is about a midwife in Vermont in the 1980's who does home births and loses a mother during birth and saves the baby, but is put on trial for murder of the mother.

Just starting The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water. It's for my book club.
And Ian and I are getting pretty close to the end of The Order Of The Phoenix. It's our last day of break so we plan to have a bit of a reading marathon.

I'm in the last few pages of The Big Thirst (good thing. Book club is this week). It's been great. Very eye opening and educational but written well and not "dry" at all ( pun intended).
I'm also almost done with The Hunchback of Notre Dame which has been very compelling in most parts with some very dry tangents. (Very dry tangents seem to be a Victir Hugo thing). I haven't adored it the way I did Les Miserables but I'm glad I read it and definitely find myself thinking about the characters.
Ian and I are about a third of the way through Deathly Hallows (the last Harry Potter book).

I just finished Running with Scissors - VERY good. I'll have to get more of his books. Memoirs of his life growing up with mentally ill parents and Asperger brother.
I'm about to begin Stiff: The curious lives of human cadavers. I'm not quite sure what to expect but it was recommended by a slightly crazed blogger who I adore.

I finished Cocktail Hour Under The Tree of Forgetfullness and it was so great. I just love her.
Now I'm reading Swish: My Quest to Become the Gayest Person Ever, which is every bit as funny as I expected but also very touching and serious in places, which has pleasantly surprised me.

Ghosts I have Been by Richard Peck. Our 5th grade teacher read it us and I still love it. I'm going to read it to DD soon.
